Now that you have filled in each of the textboxes above, click on the “Download Word Document” link below. Save your document, and use your comments to make revisions to your essay draft—which you will submit at the end of Module 7. When making these revisions, you should ask yourself the following questions:
- Do the main ideas you’ve written down flow logically from one to the next?
- Are the topics organized? Do they reflect the order presented in the thesis statement?
- Were you able to fill out the PIE information for each supporting paragraph?
- Are there any gaps in information?
- Is there more information on one topic over others or vice versa?
- Do any topics or examples stand out as being out of order?
Rearrange paragraphs and sections of your paper, as needed.
Submission Preparation Checklist
You can check the boxes on the list below and print this list for future reference. Items can be moved around in the list, or they may be deleted if they are not applicable to you or added if they are. You should print out your modified checklist because the template will revert to its original state.
Introduction
- Do you have an overview of the issue you are writing about?
- Do you introduce the main points of this issue?
- Do you have an identifiable thesis statement that states your argument?
- Is it clear what your direction for the essay is?
Body
- Do you have more than one body paragraph?
- Is it clear what each paragraph’s intent is?
- Do the paragraphs transition logically from one to the next?
- Do they clearly connect back to the thesis statement?
- Do they provide supportive evidence for your claim with credible sources?
- Do all sources have a proper in-text citation?
- Do you include opposing viewpoints to your argument?
- Do you refute these opposing viewpoints with evidence?
Conclusion
- Do you have a review of your argument?
- Do you have a summary of the main points you discussed in your body paragraphs?
- Do you discuss some new insight about your claims that follows logically from your argument? (In other words, are you actually concluding something from your argument, and is it clear what that is?)
Research Materials
- Have you added a cover page if you’re following APA formatting?
- Do you have a citation page?
Articulation of Response
- Have you checked the project one last time for any citation, grammar, spelling, or syntax errors?
