We’ve talked about many difficult issues concerning our fair city (and the world) in the past weeks and there are two things we seem to agree on: Los Angeles is a work in progress and we want to see that progress continue to take shape. Early in our course I touched on the philanthropic heart I see beating at the center of Los Angeles, perhaps the only center this behemoth of urbanity has. I’d like us to take some time this week to share information about the groups we are familiar with who are fighting whatever we consider to be the good fight to effect change in L.A.

What non-profit organizations have you been part of, volunteered at, or are, at the least, aware of? What needs do you see continuing to go unmet? If you were to start an npo (non-profit or not-for-profit organization), what cause would it serve? Might thinking in a philanthropic vein be useful to your research paper?

2.Paragraphs
