Leadership/Self Awareness Paper
Each student will choose a book on self-awareness or leadership as a basis for this paper. The books may be similar to those on leadership/self-awareness noted above for the course presentation, i.e., Quiet, The Power of Introverts in A World That Can’t Stop Talking by Susan McCain, On Becoming a Leader by Warren Bennis, True North by Bill George, Leadership from the Inside Out by Kevin Cashman, Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman, Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek, and Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us by Daniel Pink.
Please choose a book that is different from the one used in your presentation.
The paper should be devoted 30% to explaining the basic ideas in the book, and 70% to exploring how these ideas relate directly to you. To emphasize, it is most crucial that the content of the paper is directly related to you (if you do not feel you can do this, please choose another book!). Said another way, your purpose within this paper is to see and explain how the book shines light on issues and challenges in your own development as an individual and as a leader. To achieve this, give specific examples from your own life situations and past, or from present situation that you face.
This paper may be turned in (submitted via the assignment link on Blackboard) any time between Nov 1 and Nov. 30. It will be graded on the basis of how well you described the content of the book, and especially how well you related the book to you. The paper should also include at least three outside references, drawing on other material outside of the book to explain and explore further. The paper should be approximately 8 double-spaced pages. (approximately 3000 words) All material drawn from other sources, whether exactly or via paraphrase must be thoroughly referenced using any standard style/reference method.
